Get Started on your Fertility Journey

Why Choose ORH for your care?

New medical technology and “best” practices are emerging all the time. Clinicians must spend a significant amount of time to stay current with the latest advancements in their field of medicine. Infertility medicine tends to change more rapidly than most.

At ORH, we are devoted to providing the best and most current fertility treatments to our patients. Important breakthroughs are carefully evaluated and are incorporated into our practice whenever it is reasonable to do so.

We believe in going the extra mile for our patients and are open 365 days a year. You can rest easy knowing that we will be there if your treatment day happens to fall on a weekend or holiday.

Freeze-All IVF Protocols

A new standard in IVF treatment

We have adopted a new standard in IVF: Routine day 5-7 Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies (PGT-A), a Freeze-all vitrification protocol, and Single embryo transfer (SET). Adopting these practices into our routine care have resulted in dramatic increases in the success rates at our practice.

The proof is in the numbers. Over the last two calendar years we have achieved a PGT-A implantation rate of 82%!(^) That means that 82% of the embryos transferred in 2016 and 2017 resulted in a pregnancy.

According to Genesis Genetics and a recent abstract(1,2), there are only a small number of U.S. clinics that are currently doing this routinely. A recent study reported a 97% increase in live birth rates using this protocol, without SET, vs the older practice of day 3 or day 5 fresh transfers. Although SET was not used throughout this study the chance of pregnancy per embryo transferred was more than double with PGT-A and freeze-all compared with cycles without PGT-A(3).

Unlike some clinics, we don’t have a waiting list for PGT-A.

The technology of PGT-A

For PGT-A, a few cells are biopsied from the embryo to count chromosomes. Those that test normal can be transferred back to the uterus for pregnancy. PGT-A allows for selection of the embryos most likely to result in successful pregnancy.

We are confident in the results of our PGT-A because our birth rates are higher. The technique of PGT-A requires IVF and growing embryos to the blastocyst stage (day 5 to 7). Many IVF labs are not equipped to carry out this level of test. The embryo must be “hatched” in the IVF lab, and a few cells biopsied from the outer trophectoderm layer of cells (which later goes on to form the placenta and membranes of a pregnancy). The embryo is then vitrified (an advanced technique of embryo freezing), and stored for later transfer back to the uterus. The biopsied cell samples are sent to a PGT lab for a count of the chromosomes.

Embryos are stored after sampling, since genetic testing takes about a week. Embryos do well with the freezing-thawing process, with >97% of embryos surviving vitrification and thaw. Implantation rates improve too with a delayed transfer cycle as we’re able to bring the lining of your uterus to optimal conditions for carrying a healthy baby to term.

RFID Tagging of All Patient Samples

Taking security to the next level

We understand the immense level of trust that patients put in their fertility clinic to safeguard the identity of their most precious samples during reproductive procedures. To that end, we added another layer of security through the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. Not only were we one of the first clinics in the USA to adopt the use of RFID tags in all of our ART (IVF and IUI) procedures, we remain one of the only clinics in the country with such a system.

RFID tags provide an additional level of oversight by constantly monitoring the identity of the samples throughout the process. The use of this system has provided both our patients and staff with peace of mind.

Next-Gen PGT-A

Increasing IVF Success

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is a test that can be performed as part of an IVF cycle. Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies (PGT-A) works by looking at the genetic material of each embryo and making sure that the embryo is genetically normal and contains the correct number of chromosomes. Abnormal embryos generally do not lead to successful pregnancies and can result in the birth of a child with a genetic condition.

Identifying embryos with genetic abnormalities before they are transferred can have numerous benefits, including, but not limited to: a higher chance of pregnancy, and a reduced risk of miscarriage. We now utilize advanced next-generation PGT on all IVF patients.

World-Class Success Rates

Take a look at Overlake Reproductive Health’s success rates in comparison to the national average. Live Birth rates are one of the best metrics to determine the best fertility clinic for you and your family. Our Live Birth rates are among the highest in the Pacific Northwest even though we only implant a single embryo at a time for a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Our 2018 Live Birth rate reported to the CDC is 70.7% for patients under age 35 and 73.3% for age group 38-40. Compare this to the overall 2017 national average of 42.9%

See how our 2018 numbers compare with the CDC 2017 national average (the most current available from the CDC).

2016 CDC National Average vs. 2016 ORH % implant / Transfer Cycle
A high rate of success with embryos implanting in the uterus leads to a high pregnancy and live birth rate. Overlake Reproductive Health's world-class implantation rate (pregnancy with a single euploid embryo transfer) is 82%.

Year after year our success rates are far above the national average and among the highest in Washington. If you include our successes with donor eggs, our clinical pregnancy rate (about 6-9 weeks with ultrasound gestational sac detection and fetal heartbeat) is 75%.

2016 CDC National Average vs. 2016 ORH % Pregnant (FHB) / Transfer Cycle
Here, we’re comparing our 2016 CDC implantation rate to the 2016 CDC national average. Our implantation rates surpass the national average even though many clinics risk safety and implant multiple embryos to increase their numbers.

2017 CDC National Average vs. 2017 ORH % Live Birth / Transfer Cycle

Comparison of success rates across clinics may not be meaningful. Patient medical characteristics and treatment approaches vary. The 2016 National CDC information is the most current international data available.

Many factors can help you determine the best fertility clinic for you and family. While success rates should be at the top of your list, the atmosphere of the office and the empathy you feel from the doctors and staff should also give you a feeling you can trust. At ORH we take pride in treating all of our patients with compassion so patients can rest assured they are on the fastest, optimum course of treatment to obtaining a healthy baby.

We are proud to offer a wide range of innovative pricing options to our patients. We offer the best 100% IVF refund program, and the only IUI discount programs in the region. Explore our Peace of Mind™ programs to find out more.

  • Dr. Johnson, Dr. Rehman, Jo and the staff at ORH are wonderful. It took four IVF cycles for us to get pregnant. Through treatment it felt like we were making progress each time and Dr. Johnson made sure we always remained hopeful. From day one he said "we will get you there", and they did. In a time full of physical and emotional challenges we could not have asked for a more skilled, caring team. We love that it is a small practice where you are treated like family instead of a patient number. We finally welcomed our first little guy 8 weeks ago and he is a dream come true.
  • Every time a friend or family member would get pregnant I would shut down and cry. We'd been trying for a long time to have a family and it just wasn't happening. We finally decided that we should seek help. We went to Overlake Reproductive Health for fertility testing. We worked with Dr. Johnson & Dr. Rehman and their staff. They gave us hope and really listened to us. Through the fertility testing we were able to conceive our first child. The void that I had in the longing to have a child has finally been filled and we couldn't be any happier. We finally have our little family. I am so thankful for your guys support at Overlake Reproductive Health during a very trying time. I would recommend Overlake Reproductive health based on our great experience. We would never go any where else
  • Drs Rehman & Johnson really know the subject on an expert level, they & the lab keep informed of the latest research, Jo & all the medical staff are as good as doctors about performing the procedures & answering questions about the meds & the office staff are super helpful & cheerful. In all, the most useful place to go for help with a difficult, expensive & stressful problem.
  • I love this clinic. The staff are fabulous from the medical staff to the receptionists ... everyone is professional and welcoming. I look forward to seeing them. There is no shortage of humor and it's evident that it is a nice workplace. The place is very clean and all the equipment looks modern and well maintained. It has fun, upbeat music and fresh flowers in the waiting room. I feel that I receive outstanding medical care here and that the treatment options offered reflect the latest developments in the field . Overlake Reproductive Health has made the whole IVF process a lot easier and more fun than I expected it to be.
  • Couldn't ask for a more supportive group of people, wonderfully professional medical staff, and the front office staff couldn't be more helpful, cheerful, and inviting. ORH is the best of the best!
